Teaching at the MA “Communication and New Journalism” Program, Open University of Cyprus
Dr Dimitris Trimithiotis works as an Adjunct Lecturer at the University of Cyprus, Department of Social and Political Sciences and at the Cyprus University of Technology, Department of Communication and Internet Studies. He is also a Research Associate at the Mediterranean Laboratory of Sociology (LAMES-CNRS). His research is mainly located in the fields of sociology of news, sociology of media/journalism, media(ted) discourse, political communication and political journalism. He holds a PhD in Sociology from Aix-Marseille University, France (2013). He received a Doctoral Research Fellowship from the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research for academic excellence (2008-2011). He participated in several international research projects on political and electoral communication, journalistic coverage of politics, immigration and youth participation in the political process. In 2016 he published his first monograph which is the result of an innovative comparative empirical research on mediated electoral discourses at national (France and Cyprus) and European level. He also published his work in international peer-reviewed journals and edited volumes in English, French and Greek language. Since 2014 he is co-producer of a weekly radio program on social and political issues in a Cyprus national radio station.
