Since November 2014, Andreas Panagopoulos is a PHD candidate at the Journalism and Media Department of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki since November 2014. His PHD thesis revolves around news websites in Greece and digital audience metrics.
His research interests are: web metrics, Gatekeeping, Journalism practices on Digital and TV, Fake news and verification.
He teaches as visiting lecturer, multimedia and cross-platform news writing and production, content creation for news and marketing, audience analytics.
He holds a M.A. in Journalism & Communications from the Open University of Cyprus, where he graduated 1st in his class with distinction. He, also, holds a B.A from the Athens University of Economics & Business.
He founded and was in charge of the first Multimedia production hub in Greece at DPG digital publishing Group and he organized as Head of News , CNN Greece, the Greek online edition of CNN. 2009 to July 2015 he has been the News Director for ANTENNA TV, one of the leading TV stations in the country and reconstructed the digital news edition of the tv station. He is a journalist and new media consultant at Athens News Agency.
He has been granted with the Ath. Botsis Foundation Journalism Award.
Additionally, Andreas has been awarded three times with the Gold “Best Integrated Reporting” Award at the Digital Media Awards of 2014, 2015 and 2016.
He is a highly experienced reporter in all major categories of journalistic reporting, including politics, economy and war & conflict since 1990.
